About Desert Bloom Preschool

Meet the Teacher - Ms. Amy, M.Ed.

I am a certified elementary and special education teacher with a Master's Degree in Elementary Education. I have 20 years of teaching experience and an Early Childhood Endorsement. I have been a 3rd grade classroom teacher, Reading Specialist, Special Education teacher, CUSD junior high teacher, and preschool teacher at a center in Tucson, AZ. This is my ninth year teaching at Desert Bloom.

I have a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance card and have First Aid and CPR certification.

I am also a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children and attend conferences and workshops to stay current on the latest research in Early Childhood Education.

I began focusing on Early Childhood Education when my daughter was born and it has become my passion. I enjoy being able to offer parents a small learning environment and a high-quality early childhood education for their children.

Philosophy

Families and children are honored at Desert Bloom Preschool. I recognize the potential and respect the uniqueness of each child. Children are loved and supported as competent, natural learners. The whole child is nurtured: physically, socially, cognitively and emotionally. Most of all, children have fun while learning through play and develop a life-long love of learning!

Curriculum

The hands-on, child-centered curriculum is developed around themes that change every few weeks (Oceans, Farms, Insects, etc.). Letters/letter sounds, colors, numbers, and shapes are integrated into the curriculum. The Arizona Early Learning Standards serve as a basis for the curriculum. Social skills, problem-solving, fine-motor, gross-motor, mathematics, science, and literacy activities are all included within the curriculum. Spanish, sign-language, gardening, and yoga are also integrated into activities.

Class size is limited to seven students which allows for individualized instruction and the ability to meet each child's unique needs.

Desert Bloom Preschool has its own entry door. The preschool is completely separate from the rest of the home, and has its own bathroom and mini-kitchen.
